Pros & Cons
Pros
Leather is great for protecting the heel from scuffs. The tread is aggressive and non slip. The back of the heel has a small rise to it which means that your stride isn't as abrupt when your foot hits the ground.
Sizing is spot on and they give good support. Fits true to size imo. Sized well and fit well for my usual size.
They make for very good winter shoes as one navigates water and slush during daily activities. I wear winter socks along with it and this works wonders. Wore in the snow and ice.
The insole has enough give to be comfortable but they also provide enough support for my high arches. The boots have strong treading on the bottom of the boot. The tongue has quite a bit of padding for comfort.
They are very comfortable, supportive and sturdy. Their lightness is no longer a concern to me, rather a good improvement!
Cons
The bots are cheap and light weight. The tongue is total porous fabric that allows he foot to be soaked even if the boot is splashed.

Price
You cant go wrong with these for the price.
Finally, at this cost (about $66), i'd say they represent a very good value, especially, for a casual to moderate hiker.
For less than $35 bucks, out the door, be hard to find a better boot.
For the price they are a pretty good boot.
Shipping
Fast 3 day shipping, packed nicely, and even came with extra laces.
Pleased with price and prime shipping as well.
Sent the defective ones back and was promptly sent a new pair.
Packaging/appearance
Right out of the box they look great (i ordered the green) and are very comfortable.
And that would have been nice to know before ordering especially with the description, being described as brand new… note to th... Read More
Competitiveness
In fact, they are better than the insoles that come in some more expensive shoes and boots.
They can't be beaten for the price, and i didn't want to chance they may be discontinued.
Mostly merrel, but also keen, vasque, timberland and others.
There isn't as much arch support as i prefer but i'm older.
