Pros & Cons
Pros
Norton waterstone flattening stone. Works very well for flattening all my water stones. My whetstones still appear like new.

Cons
This product has a very limited range of purposes and it fails to meet standards for any of them. It was also chipped on one corner. The 4k/8k are great but this flattening stone is junk.
After four uses the flattening surface is concave as in u' shaped. It leaves humps on my stones that i'm trying to flatten. The ruler also shows how badly warped the stone is. Now my stone fixer has a bulge in the middle and completely lost its flatne... Read More
Just sped $20(ish) more and get a dmt diamond stone. It wears just like a waterstone. Using 220 wet/dry sandpaper to flatten the stone takes forever and it only remains flat for a short amount of time.

Waterstones slowly wear down thereby constantly exposing new grit to the metal surface.
This flattening stone will remove all worn spots from a waterstone and return it to a dead-flat surface.
Price
It is well worth the price to keep stones in shape to put a good edge on plane blades and chisels.
A bit pricy but it works great.
I'd give it 5 stars but for the price.
Shipping
The product worked as described, with fast delivery
Packaging/appearance
First thing i did when it came (expediently btw) was to check for flat and it is great!
Negatives: it comes in a cheesy thin plastic box which does not allow for venting of the moisture in any meaningful way.
The stone arrived perfectly flat, i checked it with my engineer squares.
Came with a small chip in the corner but still works great.
Competitiveness
Great value and convenience when compared to other methods.
