Customers have had mixed experiences with the water resistance of this Oatey Rain Collar. Highlights
Quality
They last a long time and help prevent the original seals from deteriorating prematurely.
It is great to cap off an existing vent pipe cover.
My new 2 year old roof started leaking about 1/2 inch water collected in a big pot in a very heavy rain 1-2 inch rain storm.
If you leave the old gasket in place as oatey recommended, this new one is going to stick up a substantial amount and not cover the hole.
Price
These are inexpensive and work great when used appropriately.
These are a great, inexpensive way to repair the seals around your plumbing vent pipes on the roof.
The exact same item sells for less than $3 from others online.
Couple of bucks to fix what a roofer would charge at least 100 for the job.
Shipping
Thankfully, this was delivered much sooner than vendor led me to believe.
Competitiveness
The rubber of the oatey product appears to be superior to the ones sold at my local home depot.
Much better than the alternative, which would have been a bead of silicone caulk and hoping for the best.
