I finally did get the hook positioned and it does work although i feel it is not very sturdy and would have liked it to have been made of heavier plastic or metal

There is a light on the fan which is able to provide a limited amount of illumination directly in front of the fan but the multicolour options i find not very useful but might provide some limited entertainment value
