Pros & Cons
Pros
If you're confident in your rigging these are good. These we’re pricey for tent polls but they are the best i’ve ever seen. These are thick and sturdy.
They are in 3 sections shock corded together with plenty of elastic tension. The extendable ends are a great feature even though we didn't use them.
I was impressed with the quality and sturdiness of these poles. Very nice light weight telescoping poles. Solid tarp poles.
Just came back from another trek to philmont scout ranch in new mexico. Used with a 16 ft noah's tarp. Lighter weight and cheaper than the kelty poles.
Cons
There was slight bowing in the poles due to uneven ground / angles. Over-tight bungy requires screw to be tight to hold in place because bungy pulling down strongly. Tight screw on extender puts holes in pole.
Don't try to save a couple bucks, get something solid. Overpriced with poor manufacturing quality. Ignore all the good reviews.
Highlights
Quality
Quality product, easy to use and store.
Very easy to set up and they performed well tied down correctly.
Poles held strong through 9 days at windy burning man holding aluminet shade cloth.
The poles are very lightweight and burable.
Price
But i guess for the price it is ok.
If four tarp poles was barely good enough, six pairs at half that price was essential for my kit.
Shipping
They were shipped promptly and packaged really good.
It was a 2-part shipment, luckily it was items that water was ok.
Packaging/appearance
Looked like rain when i left, got 2 inches of rain while i was away, and box was soaked when i got home.
Light so they don't add weight to the packing for a camping trip.
Only negative thing was the main seam on the bag was coming apart when they arrived, but don't really need it.
Competitiveness
There are lots of chinese make tarp poles out there, they're all pretty similar.
The price was an attractive point, especially after going to rei and cabellas to find their cost for one pole was the same as t... Read More
I purchased an rei tent, and the poles were 2-4x as expensive as these, but looked exactly the same.
