Also it helps to mark where the ring is so you can see if the bottom ring is slipping rather than actually pushing the piston off2

The old lift had a cracked bushing so flopped backwards and forwards and side to side and made a hideous clank noise when you sat down or stood up

I had the same problem that everyone else had in that the top of the lift wont come out of the chair base
