Pros & Cons

Pros

I'm mystified by the bad reviews. It seems to me that the reasons people aren't liking their units are because of user error, not product defect. Sturdy but nice looking.

Stainless steel is durable, looks nice on the counter and cleans up easily. The filters(2) in the top are washable and a desirable addition to the product. No smell no rust.

Cons

Total piece of junk. Made in china *. The rightful place for this product is in the garbage. Meantime, i only hope the stores don't take a hit on junk products!

The lifecycle of a fruitfly is very brief. After 6 months, the pail develop tiny holes and was leaking compost liquid all over the countertop.

The ceramic one scratched my counter. Calling it stainless, while correct on a nomenclature technicality, is very misleading to consumers. That means it must be made of the cheapest stainless steel.

Bought one of these and within one year had pinhole leaks in the bottom. Once moisture gets to these weak areas you get a black spot that rapidly expands into a hole that goes right through the metal bottom.

I had purchased a fancy white plastic container that was attractive but useless.

I received the compost pail in pristine condition packed well in its retail packaging/ box.

I've had mine for only a few weeks now but still looks as good as the day it arrived, no rust, no black spots.
