Pros & Cons
Pros
The f2. Tg-5 is a great underwater camera. It goes anywhere and is waterproof. Dedicated underwater settings on wheel without having to go into menu. Great value for the money, especially for a tg.
The tg-4 is a great point and shoot camera. There are a number of different scenarios which may restrict the image. It takes good undewater pics but sometimes i get only the front or tail of fishes.
Camera has surprising macro capability, being able to focus 1cm away from its lens. Auto focus stacking is quite fast to take and process, so with a steady hand you can bring into focus entire objects that would normally be partially blurred due to th... Read More
Cons
Cameras often leak underwater -- and cannon immediately accuses you of being * and not locking down the camera compartments. Underwater photos taken with the proper settings are only good if the fish swims up to me for a personal portrait. If a waterp... Read More
The app that downloads the images isn't terrible, but if you switch apps or sleep the phone while it's downloading, the download is interrupted. Auto focus on photo & video is just *.
The lens fogs up about 60-70% of the time i attempt to use it. The glass over the lcd display, and the lens itself, got scratched. Not sure if there was a leak or if there is a production issue with this glass.
The video stabilizer just straight up a joke in the model. It makes it hard to hear much else in the playback. Camera is great, software makes it infuriating to use.
Highlights
Quality
That has truly enhanced the quality of my vacations, so the tg-4 continues to be my main travel camera.
We tested our unit in natural hot sea water and ere pleased with the result.
Tried a few others and was always disappointed with the image quality.
I find it with low quality of the pictures, same as on the phone camera .
Price
And now an out-of-warranty repair would cost $240 or more!
Competitiveness
I also recommend the adapter and putting a 46mm circular polarizer on the camera as well.
I like the ability to attach a teleconverter or fisheye lens.
It has a small sensor and lens and can't compete with my dslr.

I dropped the camera when scrambling over a rock sea wall and it bounced off the rocks and fell into the crevice between giant rocks

I feared it was gone for good but thankfully i was able to barely grab the strap with the tips of my fingers after cramming part of my body and arm as far as i possibly could into the rock crevice
