Pros

Only complaint is that it runs on one aaa battery, which can wear out after a while, and that there's no a/c power source for it.

Comes with built in usb plug which goes right into your computer port. No cords, it plugs right into the usb on my computer and the sound quality is fantastic.

The music (mp3, wma) sound quality through headphones or external amp is really great. Playback for both. The playback is very good.

The windows media format is easily convertible to other formats if necessary. For a pc owner who likes to tinker and tweak things, the format is good. Files are recorded in wma format.

Dvr is best suited for a quiet environment. Service of talking to a live person and getting the new dvr in 3 days made me a believer!

Cons

The microphone recording is in mono which is lame. The device seems flimsily made, and although it was fine in a quiet room, i found it difficult to use in noisier venues--i. E.

It operates on a single battery and it's a good idea to have an extra one on hand at all times.

For the price, this thing is fantastic.

And price-wise, it is really worth it.

I can't believe the low price for what you get.

(i got a good price at $110 bucks, but currently the unit is much cheaper.

I ordered my first olympus ws-300m dvr in october 07 and it arrived in 3 days.

I got this through amazon, but fomr some reason its not being sold by them, after one a few weeks.

And they promptly sent me a brand new recorder!

The first unit i received was faulty but amazon customer service was great and i had a replacement the next day.

Packaging/appearance

Competitiveness

Today i set up two: a philips 9350 (about $250) and the olympus ws-300m (about $75), both quality hand-helds.

It would be better if accessary kit provided along camera should of sony brand rather than local brand.

Philips, and others, require a program and a usb transfer cable.
