Pros & Cons
Pros
The tg-7 is the best point-and-shoot camera i ever have. It's more than enough for social media and photo sharing sites. If you really want a point and shoot camera this is the one.
It really is ruggedly built for more adventurous use. I just feel like its going to stand up too a beating when i go hiking and slide down a hill or trip and faceplate in a stream. It is very sturdy and i love all the double locking doors.
Tg-7 has a new 3 tft screen. Usb-c port can be used for charging the battery and/or transferring images. The battery is the same as that taken by the tg-6. The grip has been redesigned and has a rougher, more grip like finish to it.
Olympus tg-7 is a huge step up. My only complaint outside of no booklet is would be nice if it came with a little case to carry it. But this can usually be corrected with software. Easy to transfer to my pc, too.
It's easier to use than the gopro in a photo function, but they kind of even out in terms of video. It has many menu settings that i recognize from my pentax kp dslr camera. I use the manual setting so that i can adjust iso, shutter speed, and apertur... Read More
Cons
Without a shutter priority or manual mode this is apparently impossible to achieve. The ergonomics of this camera are very non-user friendly. I have to constantly be ejecting the card and plugging it into an adapter to my pc with the tg-6.
You have to use a stabilizer of some kind and the video quality is very poor. The combination of salt water and anti-glare coating is the salt water will dissolve the coating. I hope olympus will do something about this.
Highlights
Quality
These really are the best point-and-shoot cameras for underwater and heavy duty use, hands down.
It is very sturdy and i love all the double locking doors, securing the ports and keeping water out.
Go through one a year, auto starts to fail and pics become less clear and refined.
The camera has auto, program (p), and aperture (a) standard modes and in addition scenes, macro, underwater mode which all have... Read More
Price
Best bang for buck in my opinion in this price range.
So it you can get last years model cheaper it might be worth it to save some money.
I've seen them on amazon new for $440 usd, and even less on ebay in brand new condition.
If you want better it will cost you 2 to 3 times this price.
Shipping

I just got the camera before a 10 day trip to utah and came back with a lot of rock formation pictures.
I received this camera two days before leaving on a six day hike so had little time to study the manual.
Packaging/appearance
The full manual isn't included with the package, and it took an email to customer service to get a copy i could download, as it... Read More
Competitiveness
Plus, this is very similar to previous iterations of this camera, so there’s a host of resources for the tg-6 and others.
This will not compete with an apsc or full-frame body at all.
There are jsut too many places that i am not going to risk my nikon and expensive lenses, or my expensive phone.
All in all, though, i'll stick with the brand, and hope they do better on the rest.
