Pros

Ooma offers a free trial of their premier service for 60 days. The only problem i have had was my scout got zapped by lightning last year.

Ooma is hooked up to our internet behind the router/firewall. No problem with ooma resetting by itself after power outages. Only downside is that twice my internet service has gone down briefly.

Good audio quality. Voice quality and ease of use is excellent. The voice is crystal clear just like regular phone line.

Cloud based voicemail is great because you can listen to your messages from a computer or phone.

Cons

Once ooma has your money for the hardware and you have reached the point where it is not returnable to the retailer, they have no financial motivation to give you customer service unless you subscribe to their premier add-on telephone services. There'... Read More

This company truly is nothing more than a ponzi scheme. They need to stop conspiring in misleading consumers. Don't be fooled by advertising gimmick.

There are many complaints about this procedure on the ooma forums, but ooma says they have no intention of correcting it. At least it works!

Ooma claims it offers unlimited minutes. In fact, the service requires a subscription to work. Users are prohibited from using more than 3,000 minutes per month. Ooma says it offers an "unlimited" service.

Quality

Once i switched to a wired connection the quality became superb.

You definately need a high-speed wired connection because i had clear internet & the voice quality was horrible.

In this day and age when everything falls apart the day after the 1 year warrant, not so with the ooma phone.

I would not have moved from vonage, my home phone provider for the past 5 yrs, to ooma were it not for the awful voice quality of vonage.

Competitiveness

It is best to connect directly into modem then connect router through this device so there's no competition for bandwidth.

I also had family in canada and other parts of the world.
