It is possible to install this without removing the bed and disconnecting the belt from the y-carriage. Got my new ender 3 v2 from amazon with a busted belt tensioner housing.

The smooth bearings dont have that issue

But you have to disassemble the tensioner

Leave the wires connected to it

Once the bed is removed loosen the existing tensioner and disconnect the belt from the front of the carriage

Next feed the belt trough the tensioner and around the wheel make sure that you have not twisted the belt
