Mine was around 15kg loaded and didn't create any discomfort even after 8 hours carrying it.

I received it on friday and hit the trails saturday morning (laurel highlands hiking trail) with my son's scout troop.

I had a chance to try this on a 10 day trip to the scottish highlands.

Packaging/appearance

I took this out on a canyoneering trip and the pack was the least of my concerns which was awesome given how much i filled the bag.

The stretchy front pocket is also a great feature, allowing for a lot of gear to be packed in, a lot more than i thought would be possible.

Honestly, my only complaint about the pack is the silly bright green rain cover.

My total pack weight was 35 lbs (41 if you count my camera, two lenses, and two spare batteries).

Competitiveness

I suggest you go down to an rei and see if this thing fits you before you buy one.

I now own another 38 liter osprey, that i couldn't pass up the sale on, but it doesn't fit me at all; it's way too small.
