Pros & Cons
Pros
Otc has an optional bridge accessory ring which effectively acts as a coil/clamp point sitting beyond the retaining nut. Works on pickup size springs as well as any car springs. Used on springs for a 2020 mustang gt. Used it on my wife's accura, broth... Read More
It sure beats the unsafe way they have been doing this for the last 30 years. Very easy and very safe.
This tool makes compressing springs easy and, more importantly, safe. Can use an impact driver to drive the bolt to a max of 30 lbs of torque.
Time to retire my old sgc tool aid springcompressor. This tool hold the spring securely no slipping and very strong.
This thing is huge and very stout. It is well engineered and built. The welds are master quality and the steel is high grade.
Cons
Can't compress all the way to free the strut/bolt from the force of the spring. The angle of the clamshell prevents you from compressing the spring evenly (the upper piece with the bridge is angled).

Competitiveness
I used it to replace the struts on my ford expedition and wife's vw with no problem.
Used it on my wife's accura, brothers chevy trailblazer, buddy's mazda.
Diy means it'll cost you more time to figure out the odds and ends due to not working on cars daily.
