Pros
Great light with nice versatility. Very happy with my ott light. Love the lamp.
The light is very bright and the magnification is perfect. Especially, the magnifier for smaller stitch work and even pulling slivers from little one's hands. Nice magnifying glass, not to powerful has great clarity.
Just remove the threaded * & use only one pipe for perfect chair height. Ottlite makes a big difference. I just wish it would bend down closer to my lap for hand piecing and quilting. It also seem to be well constructed.
Cons
The light and magnifier are fine but the goose neck is way too short. In theory it seems great, but in real life the magnifier is useless. Magnifying part is not near good enough either.
Whoever designed it needs a swift kick in the keister. The design is shotty and the join of the two pieces is at a terrible height if you are planning to sit on a couch and have it bent over you while doing cross stitch or anything in your lap.
After a year the lamp no longer works. It flickers and is unusable. The manufacturer says the bulb is not replaceable.

Price
This is a good value, gives a good amount of light, and is very well balanced, flexible, and stable.
However, for the amount of money spent on it, you would think the light would be in pristine condition.
Shipping
Tried the new lamp’s power supply when it arrived and that solved the flickering so i contacted ottlight and bought another power supply.
Packaging/appearance
This gift arrived but beware ottlite details what is in the box on both sides of the box!
If you receive this lamp as a gift, the receipt is required to honor the warranty.

It was very difficult to unscrew the plug which connects to the base out of the lower pole and insert it into the upper pole so the stand would be the correct height

The manufacturer should include a tool to unscrew the base plug and thread it into the other pole to make this conversion much easier

I have loved ott lites for yearsi was first interested in them when i realized ia southern californian by birthwas overwhelmed and sad in the gloomy cold winters here in the us south
