There is a variety of scents, strong but pleasant such as citrus, and the cards don't really have a scent until you scratch them.

Packaging/appearance

I bought pencils separately so the envelopes (which are small) were kind of a waste.

Each card came in its own little plastic wrapper, keeping the scent from being rubbed off in transit.

They also come with envelopes if you choose not to add a pencil (we added bendy pencils, it was great).
