I did find it very difficult to put the footrest up and down

My solution was to turn it over and remove two heavy duty silver springs on the mechanism

I will note a very important safety issues these are not well balanced for reclining

So if you have children who like to plop down as most kids do or an overzealous teenage daughter that throws back the seat while opening the leg rest a little too quickly it will fall backwards
