Pros & Cons
Pros
The regular rock pla has a very muted gradient that will make your prints pop, but not excessively. The only negative is that it readily absorbs moisture from the air. Matte is a great option for 3d printing.
The finish on it is fantastic. If i need filament, overture is the first brand i look at. My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that it scratches very easily.
This filament is particularly neat as finished pieces hardly have seamlines from the layers. No clogs at all so far. This makes amazing wood-like carvings, when it wants to work with you. This one is a sticker when you have good bed adhesion!
Cons
This filament consistently causes clogs in my bambu a1 mini. The overature is brittle, snapped twice on me. I'm uncertain if i received a bad batch.
This is particularly disappointing considering the premium you pay for specialty filaments like this one. Would not buy again purely due to the smell.
While the visual concept is appealing, the practical execution falls short due to these clogging issues. This makes them unsuitable for any application requiring durability. Incredibly disappointed, but nowhere near patient enough to keep fiddling aro... Read More
This spool of filament was tangled. I think i have to move on from overture as they cant spool their filament tangle-free.
Highlights
Quality
Printing on a prusa, very reliable and easy to use.
I love the quality of the material and it is a very nice matte finish.
It's more of a matte finish, and the filament itself feels less smooth and more textured.
This filament doesn't need anything special, its cheap, its solid, and it just prints with no fuss.
Price
Great filament for the price would recommend
Well at least you didn't have to pay much for it.
Shipping
Product arrived extremely quickly and was packaged well, i choose the matte black variety.
Packaging/appearance
Packaged nicely also appreciate the cardboard spools.
Looks extra nice for bones and skeleton models.
The filament boxes were packed tightly to the outer box and the spool edges were crushed.
I printed a sierpinski pyramid, with one side being white and the other being black, and it's a blast to look at.
Competitiveness
Have done a few in silk pla from other manafacturers, and then saw this product, and like it very much.
I will likely try a different rock pla when this one runs out, as it gives me more problems than even abs printing.
Overall i would buy the same brand, just not the dual color, if i can't get consistent results.
The color is good, but a little darker than the add on my computer, as compared to the print.
