Then i saw that there is a small onoff switch on the onthego so i moved the switch to the 34on34 position its in the 34off34 position by default

So i left the drive attached via the usb cable and completely shutdown the macbook pro

After it was off for a few seconds i hit the power button then pressed and held the 34option34 key on the keyboard to do an oldfashioned option boot
