Pros & Cons
Pros
The 8 cup model holds approximately 32 ounces of water and is made using borosilicate glass, stainless steel and bpa-free plastic. The 8-cup press just fills two of my jumbo mugs, making a single 'two mug' serving. Cold brew coffee is much less acidic... Read More
French presses are great for their simplicity and taste. This french press helps mitigate that challenge. The oxo brew works just as well as my bodum presses and has a pleasing modern design.
Groundslifter is genius—but lifter doesn’t scoop up all the coffee grounds. This does exactly what it says it it easily lifts all the spent grounds out of the carafe and into my countertop compost pail. The grounds lifter is fantastic.
Using a french press is also a way to save energy, because boiling water for brewing coffee uses less energy than using an electric coffee maker. This oxo brew french press makes the whole brewing easy.
Glass us thicker than other brands. Made with stainless steel construction. Mesh filter assembly is also really nice; the way the mesh curls up around the spring is much better than my bodum.
Cons
This does not have a silicone groundslifter as advertised. There is a huge design flaw in the press- when you push down the plunger, the coffee comes out of the top. Plenty of coffee grains end up in your cup.
Highlights
Quality
Classic oxo everything they make is well engineered and sturdy
Plus this press is modern, streamline, and functional!
They are thin with stamped, sharp edges, which is contrary to every oxo product i've ever purchased.
Glass beaker cracked after using only 6 times using normal boiling water and coffee grounds.
Price
My $10 bodum puts this to shame.
My old bodum didn’t do that and cost less money.
A little pricey, but a nice, simple coffee maker.
If the top was a bit better, it would be an easy five stars, but this was probably an area they cut cut costs to keep price low.
Shipping
First one came broken, but it was quickly replaced by amazon.
Packaging/appearance
Inside the package, it came with an instructional card that made it simple for her to figure out how to use as it was her first... Read More

I compare all french presses to my bodum chambord.
Overall, however, this is a firm competitor to the bodum chambord press.

The groundslifter is something i’ve always wanted with a french press because of how time consuming it can be to clean the grounds out of the bottom like most reviews though i kept having grounds get through the mesh no matter how slowly i pushed i ended up replacing the mesh and it’s plates with ones from my bodium and now i’m getting clean delicious coffee

If i had to guess the problem here i’d say that oxo’s mesh isn’t sturdy enough to deal with the pressure caused by the metal part of the groundslifter so the seal is broken allowing grounds to pass through
