Pros & Cons
Pros
This is to replace my old one that the handle broke off. This thing works perfectly. This greatly increases my speed in the kitchen.
It pours well, which is one of the big reasons i wanted it (after current offerings from pyrex and anchor both dribbled badly) the angled scale (cups and ounces) is easy to read, with bold red letters against a solid white background. The design makes... Read More
Measurements on the side of the measuring cup show milliters, ounces, and cups. Having the measurements looking through the top is much better than stopping down to look at the measurement through the side. I love the fact that they encased the measur... Read More
Cons
The plastic used in these is very flimsy and easily broken. Plastic repels water whereas glass attracts, so the meniscus is upside down. Adding boiling liquids has caused melting of the plastic material.
The inability to microwave fats is a big downside. The major problem with it is its inability to be put in the microwave or to add boiling liquids to it.
Highlights
Quality
This cup is super sturdy but anlso light, and won’t break!
I even used the four cup as a fat separator last week, the wide aperture allowed me to use a ladle to scoop out a fat layer

I have tried others in the past, but many were weak, and the handles broke off or the became unreadable after a few uses, not t... Read More
Packaging/appearance
It did not say on the packaging so i reached out to oxo directly, who then stated it is not microwave safe.

My previous measuring cup was kind of foggy transparent and just had raised lines and numbers not even colored so you had to get down to table level to eye it up and hope the light hit it just right so you could read it

You just put it on a flat surface stand above it and read it

The measurement markings inside the cup are also under a layer of plastic so they arent going to come off with a lot of rubbingwashing

I didn’t realize this at first but the 13 cup markings and milliliter markings are only on the outside along with 14 cup and ounces so you still have to look at it from the side if you are using those measurements

Inside is 14 cup markings and ounces only

Can’t tell if the handle is a separate piece attachedglued to the cup or if the handle and cup are molded as one piece with a rubber grip added round the handle if that makes sense

The pouring spout is very short and pointy so if you pour too fast there can be a little splashback if you are pouring into a small pot or bowl

Cooks oatmeal in the microwave perfectly cuz it doesn’t boil over the sides
