As with most apple corers a thin line of some doesnt get cut at the end

Since im eating them it doesnt bother me however if you were using it to decorate a food item this may present an issue

The frame is made of thick plastic and the base is round like an apple with a diameter of about 4¼” and is almost a ¼” thick

The eight straight metal blades are each inset into the inside of the round base and connected to a round apple core remover blade in the center that is almost 1” in diameter

When the slicer is placed on a counter table or cutting board the blades do not touch the surface

They are set probably a sixteenth of an inch above the bottom of the round plastic base on the oxo apple slicer

After the last push the fruit would open up like a flower see photos below and the apple core could be removed by pulling it up in one piece
