Pros & Cons
Pros
This is the best iron i've ever owned and i wouldn't hesitate to get another (especially because the price is reasonable). It works fine for my intended purpose. Overall a wonderful device.
The farther you turn the dial, the hotter the iron gets. Temp settings are not in english, but it is easy to find translations online.
The panasonic ni-a66-k (black) is a wonderful dry iron. It irons better than a steam iron, but without the mess. This dry iron (no steam option) does not smell.
It glides over fabric like a dream with its nonstick coating. The bottom is slick, making it easy to slide over even the smallest quilting pieces.
Highlights
Quality
This iron is fantastic, a nice pointy end, very smooth surface and heats up quickly.
Easy to handle and the max temperature range with a little water spray can remove the crease in no time.
Steam irons always leak given enough time (about 9 months for me).
The knob is constantly coming off after being almost impossible to turn.
Price
I use it for my small, home-based business every day and it is worth the $50 i paid.
I am done with leaky overpriced steam irons.
The price is right, without all the bells and whistles, it's not complicated.
Shipping
Arrived well before the expected delivery date in great shape.
I have used this iron every day since it arrived, approximately 4 hours each day.
Packaging/appearance
As others have noted, it is japanese 100v/700w appliance (and all info in package and markings on dial are in japanese.
Competitiveness
Anyway, this iron also consumes only 700w of energy, which is less than half of most other irons, usually 1500w (as in the ni-wl600).
Many expensive ones that should have lasted and cheaper ones that didn’t do any better.
