The cmos sensor easily outperforms the ccd in the zs7 and zs3. The zs15 equals or exceeds all similar challengers.

Cameras that can't take good pictures in low light are useless. Moderate lighting conditions and artificial lighting show this camera's inadequacies. Put it on auto and shoot away or use pasm controls.

Obviously not dslr image quality, but with a little photoshop knowledge, you can push it well enough.
It's small and light yet very powerful with the optical zoom.

Obviously has its limitations cannot really use it for sport photography like to immortalize junior hitting a home run or stealing home base

I give it 4 instead of 5 stars because you have to charge the battery through the camera and not in the charger alone and it takes longer

The zs7 had a slightly lower picture quality which could be improved to zs3 levels by turning down the picture processing which was a settable feature but the larger number of pixels on the zs7 still made it inferior to the zs3 the sharpest travel zoom that panasonic ever released

Panasonic put poor sensors into these cameras and later on used a lens with poorer optics but a longer zoom resulting in blurry pictures
