Pros

Inverter technology allows you to truly control the power level. Easier to warm or defrost food through and through without overheating. Keep warm, reheat, defrost, sensor cook are quite good.

Lg microwaves have a more modern look thanks to their minimalist, no-button front. The panasonic 669s, with its brushed steel finish, black window and dark grey interior is still an attractive appliance. Looks sturdy and durable.

Panasonic nn-sc659 is a good-looking and decently powerful microwave. The oven is grey on this one and black on the 678s. Panasonic microwaves are slightly more than no name brands, but it is worth the extra.

Cons

When the turntable works it sounds like there is an animal in the microwave growling. Bought near the end of september and started a burning smell the second week of february.

Straight electric supply plug instead of flat angled construction, interferes at back of cabinet electrical outlet.

Bought a cheap oven just over a year ago and it caught on fire a few days ago.

Way bigger than expected very much worth the money

And if the new one lasts anywhere as long as my last one (which is still going strong) it's pretty good value in the long run.

Amazon sent a replacement though and the replacement does not make the sound.

This purchase replaced an earlier version of the same model, which served us well.

So far i have seen no reason to buy anything other than panasonic branded microwaves.

In terms of power though, there's no competition, the panasonic wins hands-down -- it is much more powerful and faster.
