Pros & Cons
Pros
This vcr is very easy to use, setup and maintain. Other than those few pet peeves, it's not bad.
It's early to write such a stellar review, as there is a long way to go before i've completed this project. To date operation is flawless. Now it works better than when it was wired according to the instruction book.
Great pictures on playback and recording. The mono sound is excellent because it's a hi-fi mono. Plays all my older 8mm vhs tapes with the adapter.
Cons
The pv-v4522's playback of mono recordings has this annoying high pitch sound in the audio. Last weekend i bought this one, it ejects the tape out as soon as it the tape goes in. When you rewind a tape, it sounds like a 747 is taking off in the next r... Read More
The * are the size of tick-tacs but smaller. Self light button only works with top vcr controls and not tv or keypad.
Highlights
Quality
This recorder works well with the digitizer and produces great quality sound and picture.
These units are simple to hook up, operarate, and last a very long time with constant use.
Vcr's no longer can be repaired and when they break, they are just thrown away.
I've heard those things are not good for tapes.
Price
The price should have been closer to $60.
Was not player shown in picture, it works fine for the money.
Shipping
Going through amazon to make the purchase was quick, simple and worked our very well.
The shipper was meticulous by including the cables, remote, and ensuring it was safely wrapped in bubble wrap.
I wondered about the high postage, but the fast service made it ok.
There was some delay but they dealt with it in a timely fashion.
Packaging/appearance
Just opened the box and replaced the unit i bought locally on craigslist (mitsubishi), which was not accepting my tapes without... Read More
Competitiveness
This is one million percent better than the vcr's in a dvd/vcr combo unit.
And panasonic's dvd players are one of the best.
Used 1 for tape duplication with another brand.
I had the 4022 which is exactly the same vcr, except plays in mono sound instead of stereo sound.
