The hdmi output has arc audio return channel just ensure when connecting the soundbar to your tv it is going into the arc compatible slot which isnt always the first hdmi slot for my tv it was hdmi 3

The remote is the typical credit cardsized piece of rubbish that you use once to set the bar up and then discard after youve programmed your normal remote to use it
