I used park tool 12 notch 46mm during install using a torque wrench to 44 nm as specified in the raceface manual however despite pressing it against the bb shell it slipped and damaged the the tool and scratched the bottom bracket shell

Got a ratchet and without excessive force i got it right off

They could slip off the external bottom bracket and damage it in the process
