Chain lube is a sticky wax lubricant. Cleaning the chain with water + soap is easy. Add the lube once the chain is dry.

This is a well-designed device that does an excellent job degreasing the chain and sprockets. Use it on my mtb. Used it to the clean the chain on my mtn bike.
