It accomplishes this task, but not as completely as you might imagine. Provides enough leverage for them to be turned easily. Might was well get the best tool available for a modest extra expenditure.
These are in by cycling tool box and used way more than one would think. Perfect fit for generic (cheap) asian bike rims. Fits nirosta 2.
Rubber coating makes it a little more comfortable to use than some other tools. Best because it grabs all four edges for optimum tightening without stripping the corners. Four sided and the correct sizes.
Cons
This 4 sided spoke wrench is grossly inferior to the 4 sided dt swiss spoke wrench. Was disappointed with the loose fit of the tool on the *. Sometimes you need to return stuff, and this is not returnable even unopened.

I decided to try this version and at first i found it to be had to get on and off and was scratching the alloy nipples
