I ended up removing the tip initially with a small crescent wrench and pumped until grease came out the much larger hole

After that screw the lid back on lightly and push the movable bottom portion upwards to remove any pockets of air you will see some grease come out through the threads if done correctly

If your grease gun is not pumping grease its because there is still pockets of air in the grease gun and forcing the plunger down it try to pump the air out will not work believe me i tried
