Pros & Cons
Pros
Pentair variable speed unit was used to replace a 2 hp fixed speed unit. Programming is simple as well. Secondly you don't have to worry about voltage either, it automatically knows what voltage to use.
The inflow and outflow ports are exact replica dimensions of the hayward gold pump. Easy to replace an existing pump with minimal plumbing and electrical knowledge. Ten hours of 200 watts sure beats the 1,100 continuous watts the hayward was pulling.
No more loud noise and hopefully no more huge electric bills. Compared to our old pump which seemed so loud, this one is very quiet. On start up and higher speeds it gets a bit louder but still significantly quieter.
Cons
If you install the product yourself, the warranty is only 3 months instead of one year. There is nothing on the product page that says it needs to be installed by an authorized technician. Pentair is very quick to void your warrantee for any reason.
Tried hard start and factory reset. Now the built-in controller no longer works. Won't run at high speed, it just keeps shutting down.
Customer service at pentair is horrendous. The product leaked out of the box. To me, this is deceptive.

Quality
Easy to install, very quiet, and saves a bunch on our electric bill.
Easy to install, quite running and the adjustable timer is the greatest option.

The motor is made to never shut off.
Price
This pentair pump has reduced my pool electricity by $50 each month.
I cant believe this doubled in cost.
I thought it was expensive back then.
I bought this around 3 years ago, it was about $650 plus tax.
Shipping
Seller delivered it in 2 days so would highly recommend!
Also, the first pump arrived with significant shipping damage.
Ordered on a saturday and arrived monday at 2pm.
The pump arrived in a timely manner.
Packaging/appearance
Arrived in perfect shape and protection with proper connections and material.
Ordered another one, packed crappy, product scratched, other than that no more serious damage.
Competitiveness
Much to my surprise when i started shopping for a new pump, i discovered that pentair has all but discontinued all their single... Read More
The noise level at full 3450 rpm is different in natural from my old 2hp single speed pentair whisperflo but about the same level.

Unfortunately the last bolt to remove the motor and get access to the mechanical seal that was leaking had the head snap off it had corrodedseized
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
Unfortunately theres just no way to drill out that bolt so there was no way to disassemble the pump

Much to my surprise when i started shopping for a new pump i discovered that pentair has all but discontinued all their single speed pumps except for a few smaller 1 hp models and now only offers the much more expensive variable speed pumps

Since i didnt want to have to replumb i decided to go with this pentair superflo vs only to find out that its not very compatible with my existing pentair easytouch control panel
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
I was finally able to figure out a way to get the superflo vs working with the easytouch but it pretty much required rewiring the easytouch which was kind of a pain

Its bad enough that pentair got rid of all their single speed pumps but then to put out replacement pumps that arent really compatible with their most popular control panel is pretty much an overthetop crappy way to treat your existing customers
