Pros

The construction quality is far better than my hayward phantom, which i really liked when it worked. It is significantly less expensive than its competitor. The pentair racer is the best value and best performer.

The front mounted bottom scrubber makes a noticeable difference. The bag is easier to empty & clean. It catches smaller particles, but with very small debris, the bag is more challenging to clean out.

Cons

When purchasing via amazon, they do not give you a phone number or address of the company that you bought it from which makes registering a little difficult. The first is a problem with the drive motor that prevents the unit from reversing properly. O... Read More

Competitive units are far easier to strip and rebuild. Racer performance falls very short compared to old legend. What really is disappointing is i am on my 2nd pool in 10 years.

It appears there are numerous people online trying to figure out how to deal with the same issue. Very frustrating. Technical support says they can't do anything about it.

It comes with the test fitting for adjusting output pressure from the booster pump to the cleaner to ensure optimal cleaning.

It's frustrating to be unnecessarily discouraged from a better, less expensive product.

Competitiveness

Slower than my dying, 1-year old polaris 280, but cleans the pool well.

This replaced my previous kreepy krauler and the new model does a great job.
