Water Hardness Testing

Customers generally find the Pentair R151276 1200 Total Water Hardness Test Kit useful for testing water hardness levels, both for pools and water softeners. Some users appreciate its accuracy and ease of use, while others note that it tests total hardness rather than just calcium hardness. The kit is considered a bit pricey compared to test strip kits but provides more confidence in the results.

Two water softeners later i have a waterboss softener that went untouched except for the addition of salt from 2007 through mid 2013 before having a problem but this is another review that i have on amazon

It worked well although if used as purchased will only tell you if you have below 50ppm or 50ppm increments

Since i got the waterboss i seldom have hardness so the only solution that i normally use is the indicator solution
