Pros & Cons
Pros
The quality of images is truly remarkable. Portrait work, some landscaping, flowers, and a bit of street photography. The shots i attached are at f8 1/500 iso100. The second pic is a crop of the first pic.
Lenses well-controlled both optically and with in-camera corrections with no further post required. Hood has an opening for manipulating cpls and variable nds. K1 image stabilization works perfectly with this beast. K-1-ii lens has a great grip.
The sharpness, resolution, contrast are all next level pro class. It has produced some of the sharpest shots i have ever taken. It may be unrivaled in it's zoom category.
It's an omg setup and will turn heads. I like it as it can help minimize some shaking. It's big - really big - and heavy.
It's hefty, but it is well worth it imho. Worth every flippin' penny.
Cons
The widest has the best sharpness, this lens is sharp, but, at 70mm it was really poor and disappointing. I had to sacrifice sharpness and detail either at the far end or at the widest. This lens is well below the traditional pentax image and material... Read More
Highlights
Quality
I use it constantly and the quality is good.
But picture quality is superb and it's a keeper.
Up until recently, kit lenses were of lower quality and people viewed them as good entry level purchases.
Exceed image quality of pentax 60-250mm everywhere except very close distance.
Price
Yes it is heavy than most pentax users are used to, but that's the price you pay for quality.
Shipping
Bought this one for shooting the milky way, but love the fast auto focus for children and animals.
)the auto focus is fast and silent, too.
Packaging/appearance
8 is considered very high (not to mention much cheaper) the pentax sharpness rivals it and has less ca which is can be severe o... Read More
Competitiveness
I have used this lens on both my k-70 compact and my k1-ii ff cameras.
At 44 ozs it’s heavier than any of my other lenses but the iq, dof control and bokeh is worth the weight and the cost.
It fits in my big caselogic backpack but not in either of my lowepro slings.
It just doesn't make sense to me people spends premium price on similar items on other brands.
