Pros

Right out of the box, lens impresses with build quality. While it is still well-built, it feels like a toy compared the old version. Eur is a great price for a great lens.

The lens excels up close (grasshopper photo) and as a landscape lens. Images come out clearer, with better color. The clarity and color renditions are perfect.

This is one lens they are going to have to pry from my hands when i croak. Upfront this is the sharpest lens i've ever used for the pentax k-70. This makes it a better travel lens and easier to manage on the near grip-less k-s1.

I only hope that this lense will be taken out of trafic, or somebody is making nice profit with same defective product again and again. Amazon needs to correct their fit listing.

This lens is well built, all metal light and quiet, plus it takes great pictures.

Image quality is fantastic at all settings.

The size of this lens and the low amount of vignetting on a full frame means it is still a viable lens on a ff platform.

The strongest hard vignetting is between 78-88mm with only small parts of the corners being shaded at both 300mm and 55mm.

I redirected the shipment to the local dollar general store, and someone there was nice enough to bring it to my apartment.

Competitiveness

The speed of focus is world's better than the previous 55-300 ed.

I do not regret the switch to pentax, and this lens is a true gem at this price level.

In addition to the 55-300, i've had the 18-135 and the sigma 17-50/2.

The build quality is very ok for this price range and certainly better than tamrons.
