Pros & Cons
Pros
The new kaf4 mount means the aperture is not controlled via physical level from a little motor in the camera body but the lens has its own aperture motor. Even though it clearly is an apsc only lens i did buy it for my pentax k-1 ff camera as light va... Read More
The pentax dfa 100mm f2. Is a great focal length for a long range lens. It is very compact when collapsed for a 55-300mm lens. The focal range covers many situations. For the pentax photographer, it is a must-have lens.
The lens also excels up close (grasshopper photo) and as a landscape lens. Image quality is good throughout the zoom range. I use photoshop and that further improves the images.
Right out of the box, lens impresses with build quality. The lens has some heft to it, feels like a nice piece of glass. Build quality is top notch.
Lens is very sharp throughout zoom range. Even at 300mm the sharpness and contrast is excellent. Lens is noticeably sharper than the 18-135mm kit lens.
Cons
I only hope that this lense will be taken out of trafic, or somebody is making nice profit with same defective product again and again. Amazon needs to correct their fit listing.

Competitiveness
I'm using it with a k-70 and it's sorta amazing.
I previously had a nikon d5600 with a nikon 77-300 lens, which i lost.
I decided to buy a k-70 because of pentax's backward compatibility with a wide range of old glass.
, for birding and backyard wildlife, where the nikon became a bit soft over 250mm.
