Pros

Black, red ink and pencil combo is just what i need. It writes smoothly without any scratching. Mechanism is smoother than the sk sarbo.

These are perfectly balanced and write excellently. They write very smoothly. Smooth writing, comfortable, classy pen.

The vicuna is a bit bulkier than the cross, and doesn't rest as comfortably in the hand, but is reasonably comfortable. The pen itself is sturdy and well built.

Love these pens. Beautifully made. Excellent multi-function pen. Really surprisingly nice all around.

With the caveats mentioned, it is still a worthwhile contender for those seeking a highly usable multi-function pen. I think they are better than the cross tech-3 even though they don't have the nubby stylus.

Cons

Red glops all over the place. Came without the silver cap for the eraser. No instructions on use, care, and replacement of pen ink cartridges or the pencil lead refills.

Crosses are made in china these days and the quality that was once their hallmark simply isn't there anymore.

This is a weakness shared with the cross tech 4.

Many other pens with the same functionality cost a lot more.

Shipping

Takes a little time for shipping but worth the wait.

Cross requires $10 plus your shipping expense to repair the pen, so, in the end not so practical.

They do come from japan so expect long shipping times but it did arrive when the shipper said it would.

Shipping took awhile but it was free.

Competitiveness

Now if only someone made a pen with these pros in this price range.
