Pros & Cons
Pros
This is possibly the best purchase i’ve ever made. No brand comes close. The only other issue i have is the packaging.
Palomino 4b is much darker than the ole hb style lead. It's also much more reflective than the fc 2b. This lead is for mechanical pencils as palominos are for wood pencils.
Cons
Not up to me to keep reordering until it's right. The lead as furnished is 600% more costly than expected and advertised.
Pentel lead is mis-packaged. Received 12 pieces of lead in one tube instead of a box.
It says 4b, but behaves much more like hb or h lead. Terrible, i use it with a pentecostal graph gear 1000 and the lead breaks constantly.
Highlights
Quality
Very consistant quality, decent amount of lead for price.

Packaging/appearance
The only other issue i have is the packaging.
Comes in a very nice recyclable carton.
Competitiveness
Pentel hi-polymer lead is the best prodcut on the market.
I ordered this lead for use in my graphgear 1000 .
5-mm mechanical pencils, a p205 and a graphgear 500, but i wanted to see if a 4b lead would be more like the dark as ink as i wanted.

I used to use 2b but as pentel keeps trying to improve the durability they now need more pressure for a nice dark image

Its slightly annoying that when i go to erase it takes a lot more of the eraser staedtler mars plastic and much care to not brush my hand where ive written because the 4b graphite will smudge

Im also noticing the minute stray bits of graphite are causing smudges in random spots on my white desktop im sure most people wont notice this and im only reporting it out of thoroughness

For others looking for a dailydriver mechanical pencil lead id suggest sticking with something a little harder like a 2b

None of them comes close to the smooth writing produced by this lead
