Pros
The hood fits perfectly, from opening the box to in use was less than 5 minutes. Granted there are no more areas for you to cut-out for more add-ons, it is still acceptable to me i feel because it's for a 5.

The only other * is the wire between the leds and the on-off switch mounted on the wire could be longer. Sit it on top and plug it in. The only thing i'm worried about is the cord and how it kinda hangs off even if you put it in the little cord slot.
Cons
They connect via a ridiculously short wire to a switch, that itself plugs into a cheapie $4 no-name power supply. The cord from the power supply to the switch is adequate, but from the switch to the unit is not adequate at all. No clips in the box.

I have other aquarium products made by tetra and have no complaints about their products or quality.
The cutouts work with the filtration system and the feeding.
So i bought the identical hood with the same light.
Price
Price is a little high for what you get.
Packaging/appearance
Got it out of the box when it arrived today, placed it on perfectly within seconds and the filter fit right in the cutout.

Great it just fits my 10gal tank.

Would have rather just purchased a replacement light as the trouble was not the plastic hood but that the led lights stopped working on my same model lid

I needed to replace the hood on my granddaughters 5 allon aquarium because the led light strip had died

So it may have been a dud or the light strip may have leaked bubbles were inside the strip

My only downfall of this model is that you have to tap and place the led in a spot underneath and doesnt stay well
