The dark smuge on cat liter is on the top of liter box. My only complaint is the door flap isn't made well. This is one if the best litter boxes i owed.

Cons

My biggest peeve is the size. The kitten continuously removes the filter which easily comes out. The only way you could really use it is as an open pan litter box, which defeats the purpose of buying a covered one in the first place.

The swinging door won't stay on, the lid comes off super easy because it doesn't really fasten to the bottom. The flap on the hood is flimsy. The opening were the door goes was cut out horrible.
