Pros

The * are like sensors and they take about one full second to react to touch. It steams milk with a basic wand which works better than i expected. Maintenance is very simple, just rinse once a week and lube a few moving parts every couple months.

The grinder works well and the beans fed easily. Mocha express makes an excellent espresso with no crema whatsoever. Even with its one shortcoming — i wish the hopper held a full pound of beans.

The coffee brewing is quick and can be done on the heels of steaming milk. Every freakin’ cup. Takes a couple of minutes for the first cup to brew when starting up the machine.

The initial investment pays for itself in the first year. The cost of the machine is slightly higher than what i think it's worth. However, the new unit is about $200 less expensive.

It's not just the cleanliness or convenience of this magnificent machine that i love. It's east to clean and the water tank is easy to refill, as it pulls out from the front. It comes with a built in water filter, which does have to be changed. I wish... Read More

Cons

This is not an espresso machine that brews coffee, it is a coffee maker that also brews espresso. The grinder only runs when you brew, you cannot run the grinder independently. This machine is no louder than a standard espresso machine.

This machine does not but as others have mentioned requires that can be time consuming. Made the weakest espresso ever. Calling phillips service is not very helpful and phillips has no chat function. Very disappointed and angry. I appreciate the thoug... Read More

It clearly states it was returned to sender. On their return policy it says there is a 20% restocking fee. Don't ever buy anything from this company they are clearly dishonest they sell you faulty appliances and then don't refund accordingly.

Packaging/appearance

The 2200 checked all boxes for me: easy to use, easy to maintain, minimal waste, quick and delicious cup of coffee any time every day.

Competitiveness

I was using a nespresso before this and this thing makes espresso that is infinitely better with the lavazza beans that i use.

After much research, i bought the made-in-romania (of all places, but not china) philips 2200.

For a fraction of the price for some other big brand units, i cannot recommend this more!
