Pros & Cons
Pros
The philips hue ecosystem isn't the cheapest for sure, but my experience has been very positive so far. It depends on how far into the hue ecosystem you are. I'm not sure i value it *quite* as highly as philips’ msrp department does though!
This switch can be detached from the wall plate for use in various locations around the house. Has a mechanical relay inside to switch so it is tough. The switch is also very responsive and reliable.

Competitiveness
We have no connectivity problems like we do with other brands of outlets we use.
The smart plug works just as well as all their other products.
But the hue smart plug works so much better than the alternatives.
The hue smart plug doesn't do that, and it's more expensive than these alternative smart plugs.
