Pros & Cons
Pros
The lighting is the perfect amount without overwhelming brightness. Brightness seems best when using some variation of white, which is fine. The kit comes with three lamps.
Phillips hue lights aren't cheap up front, but inside and outside lights have tons of longevity. I feel like these were a good investment, though maybe a tad bit spendy. Pricey but worth it.
Cons
Two of the three lights were dead out of the box. They are supposedly under warranty, but 10 days and multiple phone calls and emails later, i'm no closer to a replacement or return. The warrant is only good for 2 years.
It's just not worth paying a fortune to tinker with cheaply made chinese made * anymore. If it's in the budget, i personally recommend spending $60 more, each light, and bumping up to the lily xl.
Huge disappointment. No response. In less than a year. Just very disappointing. Phillips needs to go back to the drawing board here.
This lighting system is really stupidly designed. It's barely enough to light the house and the white led's are about 5x brighter. The 600 lumens is about half that of a 50w halogen.
Highlights
Quality
The quality of the “ lily” lights and the cables are excellent, and also completely waterproof (worth every penny in my opinion).
The app works great, albeit it can be a bit clumsy to find certain commands.
They will act up and one won’t change brightness or color with the rest.
Well i have to say i’m impressed.
Price
Wish that the price wasn’t as high as it is.
The price is high, but the versatility isn’t something i could find in another product.
Competitiveness
I use all lutron caseta switches in my house to control lighting, so i had not used the hue bulbs before.
I wasn’t hesitant to purchase given the price, but these are well worth the money!
While nearly every bulb in my house is hue, i do feel they are over priced and not as bright as some competitors.
There really isn’t much to choose from when it comes to homekit compatible outdoor lights.
