Pros

It appears to be directional, so you may need to move it around for a particular station, especially if they are all around you, but in different directions. I have a second tv about 30 feet from the antenna and it can send the strongest channels to t...  Read More

After attaching to tv, scan for channels and able to watch most of the channels available over air; even abc. Took less than five minutes. This is all anyone needs to stay entertained and it’s free!

This is with a non-powered antenna (passive). It comes with the antenna and a reflector which makes it sort of shaped like open and closed parentheses ( ) from the top view. This antenna works really well. I already own one of these optima antennas.

The antenna works awesome! It stands up by itself, so it is easy to rotate to optimize the reception. To be fair, this thing seems a bit hefty for me to be mounting on my wall.

Cons

The phillips hd optima antenna costs twice as much as a cheap antenna. It has no active amplifier as it does not plug into a power source. Not one channel.

Quality

Great way to give an item a second chance and better for the environment.

This is a small, lightweight device that works well with only occasional lapses in connection.

There are two curved disks, one is marked, must face the transmission towers.

I have a second tv about 30 feet from the antenna and it can send the strongest channels to that tv without an amplifier.

Price

If you hate paying so much for cable, this is a great replacement without the monthly expense.

I wanted another for a second tv, and saw amazon sells them new for less at $45.

Packaging/appearance

The original box inside was slightly damaged, but the optima itself looked brand new and works great.

Competitiveness

I replaced the three dollar antenna with this philips model.

I have used other antennas that don't work nearly as well.

    A three dollar 834 x 434 plastic antenna was detecting 65 channels

However it was skipping all the vhf channels and one of the uhf channels we wanted

Of course most of those 96 channels are of no interest to us but the philips antenna did recover the vhf and uhf channels we wanted

You get all the main channels in hd clear picture you would not know you were watching from antenna

It did not get all channels in my area consistently though

I saw this phillips and thought that should get really good reception because its curved instead of flat and has a reflector

Also this does not need an amplifier
