Quality
The shave itself was smooth and he was more than happy with the result.
The trimmer works fine, just pull off the head and replace it with the trimmer.
Comes in a quality case (attachments don't fit in though).
I can report that the app installed easily for both osx and android devices and communicates effectively with the shaver.
Price
I remain unsure that the difference is significant enough to justify the price.
The battery life is very good and overall it is a great device - but the price is over the top.
New blades cost around £50 so take care of them.
Competitiveness
I have an oral-b toothbrush with bt and an app - equally pointless, premium priced!
He doesn’t have a beard but it’s handy for sideburn trimming.
However i think it is a little overpriced but probably par for the course when looking at the competition.
My advice would be to seek out a cheaper more conventional model.

My husband is dreadful with electric razors he loses bits forgets to charge and moans that they dont give such a close shave

All well and good say i but as you cut yourself so many times with a razor you miss bits of your face and i am fed up of you moaning about how expensive razor blades are you are going to use an electric shaver

One thing i will say with this is you need the app to check how much charge is left in the battery

Own 5000 series and am very satisfied so 7000 is likely to be the better on the closer shave and better battery life as i can guess used braun in the past but that was a total waste of money and time philips know what they are putting on the shelves i can probably recommend it even before i open the box

Cleaning the head under the tap is good and i do like the moving headthe picturebased manual is almost indecipherable and is like translating an ancient egyptian hieroglyphthe app is an unnecessary frippery and must add to the cost

Could be my fault but i looked at the reviews and there was photos of a brush applicator and side trimmer
