    There are two elements which must be in place for the device to both peel and slice one so the screw will drive the apple forward it must sit against the spiral grooves in the shaft at the handle end and the other which releases the skinning blade this was in the correct position coming out of the box so no attention required so it can contact the apple

    I then moved the dual function knife slicer which they have numbered as 13 on the directions but refer to only the butterfly nut in operation 2
