Pros & Cons
Pros
It's not scratchy at all, and has just enough feedback to make control easy. Not a flex or semi-flex pen by any means, but it still allows for some line variation.
The only downer is it was missing it's warranty. It works flawlessly for my needs. It's probably my favorite ever over the pilot vanishing point that i own!
This pilot pen is unusual for pilot in that it has a piston filler rather than their usual cartridge/converter. I'm indifferent about the aesthetics of a demonstrator, but like that i can very easily see how much ink is left and what color it is. If y... Read More
Cons
Bad cq by pilot. The ink flow is dry causing the pen to skip. Where it doesn't skip is barely visible.
Highlights
Quality
Use with iroshizuku pen ink, and it delivers very smooth and precise writing
The smooth flow and a soft and springy enough feel will provide you with a huge reservoir of ink for pages and pages of fun writing!
The pen's design also makes you stare at it with awed eyes - the entire mechanism is visible.
I've used multiple in the past but they've always been scratchy and spotty.
Price
A must have for your inexpensive daily use.
Great value for the money (if you buy from a japanese seller as opposed to us seller).
You can pay more and get less.
So i finally chose this $110, broad-nib option.
Shipping
Overseas market pricing and shipping worked in a most timely fashion as regards the delivery of this item.
Shipping was pretty fast considering it's from japan.
The shipping was delayed due to a typhoon but the seller was quick to reply to my questions and very understanding of my concerns.
Packaging/appearance
It looks quite nice too, especially beside the bottle of take-sumi ink.
Came without the pilot box which was a surprise.
Maybe it got lost in the packaging i guess.
Competitiveness
I own a few other pilots and many twsbi and lamy pens and this pen is an amazing entry into the world of gold nibs.
Compared to the twsbi 580 for example, this pilot is lighter, and therefore could definitely feel cheaper by comparison.
If a demonstrator (clear cap & barrel) is not priority and or piston fill, the pilot falcon series is similar quality and price... Read More
