It's solidly constructed. Edges are smooth so i have no worries about splinters. Bottom of the crate is lightweight particle board but not cheaply made. We love the product's safe, rounded corners and wood that has neither cracked nor splintered.

Unlike a lot of plastic, multi-sided versions that might overwhelm some infants and toddlers. Our daughter, who is too young (8 mos) to do the sorting with the blocks, loves playing with this for some reason.

Our little granddaughter loves this! Our granddaughter loves it. My one year old grandson absolutely loves this.

The plan toys shape sorter is more substantial and more glossy than the ikea. My 13 month old still loves putting things in her mouth and i’m not worried about her choking on these shapes, they’re just the right size.

Bottom panel is not even wood but a cheap pressed wood composit, like the shelf bottom of an ikea shelf. Top lid barely fits. There's no hinge or anything to keep the lid permanently attached to the box.
