Pros & Cons
Pros
Balanced and works as advertised. Power button is handy. Handle is secure.
Cons
Just go to lowes. Makita is a far better product. Buyer beware. The name porter cable used to mean something, now it (at least this one) is junk.
This item overheats if left plugged in. The fact that there is no automatic shutoff for overheating means it may not be safe to use. It's small and light, which is a detriment to taking heat away from the motor. It has no thermal protection and can ov... Read More
Tool is junk! It frequently loosens and flops into the spinning wheel. The chatter, vibration and cut off wheel hop makes them unusable.
Highlights
Quality
Great tool overall and definitely happy with the tools performance.
Balanced, easy to use, sturdy weight, like the metal body and no silly day-glow plastic.
I have 4 other 4-1/2" angle grinders (not cheap ones) and a 5th one made by skill that just wore out.
Was after the return date when i started using it the 3rd time and it locked up.
Price
Great value for what you get and very powerful.
Saved over 15 bucks over hardware price, good job
Bought for 99 dollars, and us still going.
Though i would try this 4-1/2" grinder, because the price was real cheap for a porter-cable.
Packaging/appearance
Just the box in which this is packed, does not give good protection.
It did not come with the handle or blade changing tool.
Competitiveness
Just as good as a top tier grinder
Better than the medium quality sears i bought 15 years ago.
